Gabe Newell Talks "Steam Box."

Valve is moving into the console market. Sort of. Basically Valve thinks it sucks that you can't buy an affordable PC to hook up to your TV and play games without a lot of effort. So they're making one. In the article here, Gabe talks all about the box and how bad it's going to make consoles look.

Below is just a concept of what it could look like, apparently there are many working models.  Regardless, hope this is a huge success, which makes Microsoft and Sony think twice about their business model.

Rumored Valve Console.

About 3 weeks ago, there was a blip on the radar about Valve making hardware. Gabe said in an interview that if they have to they will. Didn't say if he meant console or controller or something else. Over this weekend there have been 4 posts on Kotaku about the "Steam Box." The first story here talks about a console that would run pc games on whatever and also run Steam.

Next we have a is this a photo of the Steam Box? Take this link to read the full story and a picture below.

3rd is a controller concept, looks like an Xbox controller.  The full news story here.

Finally here is Kotaku's complete round up of all the news and their speculations and opinions.

Personally, I think a "Console" that people buy for under $400 that plays PC games on great settings without any lag is an amazing idea.  I'm a PC gamer and I fear the future upgrades that I'll need.  Why is PC gaming the best?  It's not because of anything you'd hear from someone playing Counter-Strike, it's about the freedom that the PC allows that the console makers won't give their customers.
