Who needs game publishers?
If you're younger than 20 years then you probably don't know what point and click adventure games are. Maybe you do and I'm just being a jerk. Regardless if you don't then they are just games where you point and click on objects and characters to interact with them. They don't really have timing to them like the core of all games now but they're story and puzzle driven.
Double Fine, makers of Psychonauts and mentioned earlier this week here, have started a kickstarter page for an adventure game they want to make here. The goal was 400,000. It's now at over 600,000. To me that's not the amazing part, what it is the amazing part is how many people have donated at certain levels. One guy dropped $10,000, 40 people gave $1000. What makes the biggest dent is the over 5000 people at $30 and over 7000 at $15. And these are not just straight donations, you get stuff too. Basically the $15 is like a pre-pre-order.
